Here's a rundown of our 2 week trip. First off, we booked it out to Utah. Left 7:45am our time and made it to Lehi at 10am the next day. The kids did great and the weather was perfect. Plus we had some great books on tape. Family bondage time at it's best.
What better way to stretch out the kinks from being in a car for 27 hours than to hike a mountain. The next day we hiked to the 'Y' and then went and had lunch and ice cream at the Creamery.
We of course had to stop at the Bean Museum. It's kind of turned into a tradition.
So many fun animals to see.
Two days later, we hiked another mountain. On this hike we had a lot more company. We hiked up to the entrance of Timpanogas Caves. It was a fun hike.
We had a couple of groups. This is the group at the tail end with all the kids with smaller legs.
And yes there were dangers along the way. Look closely and you will see the rattle snake that had been sunning itself on the path, until scared off by one of the girls in our group. And as for the sign, Ethan just thought it was a funny depiction of falling off a cliff.
We made it to the top and then we enjoyed the caves.
Lots of cool things to see inside.
We also had lots of fun with family. These 3 are just 2 months apart and they were fun to watch as they played together.
Finally, on the way home we stopped along the way.
First stop, Mormon Trail Center in Omaha, where we learned more about the pioneers.
Then we stopped in downtown Omaha to see the giant statues they have at Pioneer Park (not sure if that is the name or not). It was a whole wagon trains worth of statues.
Then across the river to Council Bluffs to see the Kanesville Tabernacle.
Finally on to Liberty Jail and Independence.
It made for a long day, but I think the kids enjoyed it.
