One Handsome Guy

Jakob had his band concert the other night. They had someone taking pictures, the husband of one of his teachers, so she sent me an advanced copy of the a picture he took. For those who don't know, Jakob plays the clarinet and this year he was first chair. It was a good concert and we got to hear Jakob perform in the regular band and the jazz band.

Daddy Daughter Dance--50's Style

This year the Daddy Daughter Dance was a Sock Hop. Sophia wanted to get dressed up like she had in years past, more princess-ey, so I showed her how they dressed in the 50's. This meant she wanted a poodle skirt and if Sophia got one, Clara wanted one too. Luckily Hobby Lobby had their broad cloth on sale and they even had an iron on poodle (there was no way I was going to try making that--I was just going to do something like music notes until the lady cutting the fabric showed me the poodles). I thought the skirts turned out really cute and the girls looked really cute. Making them took a little geometry and using my brain.
Sophia came in second in the hula hooping contest.
Here's a look at the decorations. The Primary did a great job and it looked amazing. When we walked in Sophia asked what those black circle things were. Another relic of the past, I guess.

Halloween--The Run Down

There is always pumpkin carving of course. We had some really stringy pumpkins this year. It was like scraping out spaghetti.

Ethan and Sophia carved their pumpkin to go with their costume, Jakob used one of the patterns and Clara told us what she wanted. This is just a cool picture that was the result of trying to get a good picture.

Jakob was going to go as Uncle Bob, but figured no one would know who he was. Really, he just got his hair sprayed to be Ringo, when we realized that he looked like Phil's brother Ryan. You know how everyone says Jakob is Phil's clone? Well Phil and Ryan get mistaken for each other all of the time, even by the cousins, Ryan just has really dark hair. I'll have to dig out a picture of Ryan from our wedding, because he would have been about the age of Jakob right now.

Here we have the Beatles. I can't remember who was who though. The other two boys are in our ward too. I made my boys' coats another mom made the other two. We never could get them to serenade us though.

Sophia went as Hermione. Unfortunately, I didn't get a picture with her wig on.

And here is our black kitty cat. She had a fun night of meowing.

Then there is the loot. There is always the counting and separating and then tax paying that comes after collecting it all.
