Parro is Friendly

After a year and a half of being downright rude, Ethan's bird, Parro, has decided to be friendly. She now hops on to your finger readily and enjoys the socializing. We are not quite sure what has happened to spark this change, but we are enjoying her friendliness. She especially likes Clara and her hair.
Where she used to hide in the corner of her cage for some people and nipped at others, she now hops to the door of her cage begging to be let out and then hops onto a finger right away. It really is a lot of fun!
Big blue eyes with a blue bird.

Finding Fall on a Friday

We went looking for Fall on the Chatahoochee. We did a lot of bird watching (mostly geese, but some ducks and other small birds as well).
Jakob took this picture. I like how he caught the one goose with his wings spread out.
Here are the kiddos along the Chatahoochee.
Ethan took this picture of some fungi he found growing on the tree. He liked how there were a couple of different kinds all sharing the space. Really, the red kind was the only Fall colors we saw. It's been rather warm in the South and the leaves are just barely starting to change in some places, but not many.
Some more Fall colors, just not what we were expecting.

5K

Jakob and I ran a 5K this weekend. It was to help his school raise money for a new track. He wanted to do it to get out of 2 CV days (stands for cardiovascular and they basically have to run 12 laps during gym). I said I'd run it with him. He beat me by 7 minutes. I got under the time I wanted, which really is not that impressive so I'm not sharing the time. I really didn't train the past 3 weeks due to a broken nose. I'm 95% sure I broke it (It was late at night, I went to give Ethan a good night kiss and he raised his head to give me a hug. There was such a loud crack that Jakob thought I had slapped Ethan and then there was a nice little click as I put it back in place. Next day there were some nice black and blue bags under my eyes and a lot of pain)., although I didn't go get it checked or anything. They don't xray for them anyway unless there is a lot of bleeding. Who knew that a broken nose can affect your life in so many ways. Think washing your face, putting on lotion, wearing sunglasses, a good long kiss, nuzzling noses with little ones and even running--the jarring from pounding the pavement really hurt. Luckily, it's not crooked, just a little bump that I can feel.
Anyway the point is, my 12 year old can run faster than I can.
