We met up with some friends at Radnor Lake, a very lovely state park, with a great trail/road to walk on that goes right along the lake. The kids had off school on election day and I had promised them a walk to welcome Fall officially. We were greeted with amazing Fall colors and the perfect weather for enjoying them.
On Thursday Phil and I got to go out for lunch. We were in the driveway and I looked down to see an owl pellet. I think I impressed him with my tracking ability and the fact that I could tell what regurgitated owl waste looked like. What else has lots of little bones in it? Well he left and I stayed outside a little longer to work on my current project of refinishing a chair. Eventually I looked up and saw a fluffy thing in our tree. It had been there the whole time, I just had not looked hard enough for the source of the owl pellet. Sure enough we had an Eastern Screech owl visiting us. It stayed for two days and we haven't been able to find it again. It's probably moved on, but I thought it was pretty cool to have it sitting out of front door.
p.s. Actually, it's come back and has been there for the past couple of days. (11/11/08)
